DescriptionPlates intended for publication in various papers published in volume 148 of Philosophical Transactions. The plates have been removed from their associated manuscripts. Published plates were engraved by the Basire family.

The plates correspond to the following papers:
'The Bakerian Lecture.―On the stratifications and dark band in electrical discharges as observed in Torricellian vacua' by John Peter Gassiot;
'Researches on the structure and homology of the reproductive organs of the annelids' by Thomas Williams;
'Researches on the intimate structure of the brain, human and comparative.—First series. On the structure of the medulla oblongata' by Jacob Augustus Lockhart Clarke;
'On the resistance of tubes to collapse' by William Fairbairn;
'On the magnetic induction of crystals' by Julius Plucker;
'On the development of decapod crustacea' by Charles Spence Bate; and
'On the structure and functions of the hairs of the Crustacea' by Campbell Greig de Morgan.
