TitleTable, 'Resistance of elliptical tubes' by [William Fairbairn?]
Date[1858]
DescriptionTable 10 illustrating the results of Fairbairn's experiments on iron tubes in an elliptical form, providing data on the diameter, length, thickness of plates, and pressure of collapse for each of the tubes. The illustration of the tubes is taped as a flap over the figures illustrating the form of their openings. The tubes are labelled in graphite 'All under' with a second struck-out inscription reading 'reduce this so as', and a graphite inscription next to the figures showing the forms of the tubes reads 'put these two sections on separate block so as to come opposite the two tubes'. Not signed. The manuscript for this paper is wanting.
