Title | Referee's report by James McFadyen, on a paper 'Further remarks on the production of a malarial form of South African Horse-Sickness' by Dr A Edington |
Date | 23 November 1903 |
Description | Sectional Committee:[Physiology and Zoology]
Not recommended for publication in either the Philosophical Transactions or Proceedings. Thinks the conclusions of the paper are not justified by the results of the experiments described, but also actually erroneous. The interpretation of the results can be objected to on the grounds that a simpler interpretation affords a better explanation of the facts. Thinks the peculiar remittent fever observed was an experimentally induced pyroplasmosa, the donkeys having been the natural subjects of a chronic form of that sickness. Mentions the lack of a control.
