Refers to work by Jules Jamin, to which the current paper is compared. Refers to work by Augustin-Louis Cauchy. Apologises for not providing fuller reference to the work of Jules Jamin, but assumed that those interested in the subject would be fully familiar with his experiments. Provides a table of evidence for appending to the final table in the paper.
