Title | Report by Samuel Haughton, on his paper 'On the reflexion of polarized light from polished surfaces, transparent and metallic' |
Date | [1862] |
Description | Remarks are in reply to the report of George Gabriel Stokes [RR/5/106]. Counters apparent claims made in the paper. Does not have a copy of the paper to hand to check the exact wording used. Clarifies the intended use of the phrase 'coefficient of reflexion' [sic]. Refers to work by Jules Jamin, to which the current paper is compared. Refers to work by Augustin-Louis Cauchy. Apologises for not providing fuller reference to the work of Jules Jamin, but assumed that those interested in the subject would be fully familiar with his experiments. Provides a table of evidence for appending to the final table in the paper.
