TitleReferee's report by William Huggins, on a paper 'Notices of some parts of the surface of the moon' by John Arthur Phillips
Date18 March 1868
DescriptionRecommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. The value rests 'almost entirely on the drawings'. Hand-drawn illustrations of the Moon can provide minute details that cannot yet be obtained by photography. Has not seen the illustrations, but is familiar with the excellent illustrative work of the author. Refers to work of Johann Friedrich Julius Schmidt. Suggests the author state whether his observations confirm or not the observations of others.
