TitleReferee's report by Cecil Reginald Burch, on a paper 'Further interferometric studies with mica. New multiple-beam fringes and their application' by Samuel Tolansky
Date1945
DescriptionSectional committee: Physics

Not recommended for publication in its present form. The author's style arouses his hostility 'so profoundly' that he isn't a suitable referee. A second opinion should be sought. Ordinarily, when he is so hostile to a paper he states that it should be published in full so that the author can regret it's publication and not him. However, he can't find much in the paper that is misleading and the fault may lay with him, not the author. The Society should seek another opinion and shouldn't hesitate to disregard his. If they want to take his, the author should halve the paper in length and put it in the Philosophical Transactions.
