TitleLetter from Michael Foster, regarding a paper 'A research into the elasticity of the living brain and the conditions governing the recovery of the brain after compression for short periods' by A G Levy
Datend [1894]
DescriptionOliver Joseph Lodge was appointed third referee to judge between the conflicting opinions of Charles Smart Roy and Edward Albert Sharpey-Schafer. His opinion, which reconciles the two other referees' opinions, should be acted upon. The author should insert a comment on the difference between his results and those of Charles Smart Roy and Charles Scott Sherrington. Communication from Victor Alexander Haden Horsley indicates the paper should not be refused on Charles Smart Roy's advice. The two referee system means that sometimes the one with best knowledge of a subject is often at controversy with the paper they are asked to referee.
