TitleReferee's report by Augustus Edward Hough Love, on a paper 'Elastic solids at rest or in motion in a liquid' by Charles Chree
Date26 November 1900
DescriptionSectional committee: Mathematics

Not recommended for publication in Philosophial Transactions but pages 1-13 might be published in the Proceedings. It would be desirable to suppress in pages 1-13 the references to water contained in pages 14-23 and perhaps add a paragraph to finish the paper. The author raises an interesting question; what happens to a deformable body let fall through liquid? But does not solve the problem. The paper is made up of 'dreary mathematics'. The portions of the paper recommended for publication in the Proceedings contain results that are novel and interesting.

[Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society, 1901].
