TitleReferee's report by Arthur Schuster, on a paper 'Experimental researches on drawn steel. - Part I. The influence of changes of temperature on magnetism. Part II. Resistivity, elasticity and density, and the temperature coefficients of resistivity and elasticity' by J R Ashworth
Date15 April 1902
DescriptionSectional Committee: [Physics and chemistry]

Knows so little about Ashworth's work that he thinks Larmor ought to go strictly by the referees' report. He certainly does not think the paper worth £43. In some details the referees seem 'rather hard'. The method used to measure the Young's modulus may not be good, but he understands it was the only one available with the particular form in which the specimens could be obtained. Does not know Dr Morris' work and is told it deals with a different matter. There does not seem to be much hurry about the paper and as there is a difficulty, he wonders if it would be better to let it wait until the next meeting.
