TitleReferee's report by Charles Vernon Boys, on a paper 'The movements of the flame in the explosion of gases' by Harold Baily Dixon
DateJune 1902
DescriptionSectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full and only with such modification as may be made necessary if there is a reduction in the number of illustrations. The paper one of such beauty and interest and the evidence rendered visible by the photographs of the important, even if erroneous conclusions, so striking that it hardly seems possible to suggest any reduction in the number of the illustrations. The cost however will be very severe, and with the Treasurer's warning in mind, the author should be asked if he could without sacrificing evidence, reduce the number moderately. There appear to be repetitions of the same phenomena in different photographs. His only other suggestion is regarding the diagram of a stopcock on page 36 where the way through the barrel should not be made considerably larger than the barrel itself.
