TitleReferee's report by Augustus Edward Hough Love, on a paper 'Uber reihen auf der convergenzgrenze' by Emanuel Lasker
Date30 July 1900
DescriptionSectional committee: Mathematics

Recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions, in full if at all. Suggests the following modifications; omission of pages 1-4 referring to the paper being in competition for a Paris Academy Prize; the addition of a statement of what the author takes to be the problem in hand and what he thinks he has done; modifications to points of detail referred to on a separately annexed sheet [not attached]. The only diagram in the paper should be reproduced. The paper is a hotchpotch of interesting theorems and acute remarks rather than a systematic exposition of a connected theory. It deals in an original way with some problems of analysis of great difficulty and constitutes a distinct advance in our knowledge of methods for attacking such problems. The connection of the three chapters with one another seems rather loose but all contain matter of considerable value and so far as he knows most of this matter is novel.
