TitleReferee's report by Harold Baily Dixon, on a paper 'Explosions of mixtures of coal-gas and air in a closed vessel' by Leonard Bairstow and A D Alexander
DateFebruary 1905
DescriptionSectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in Philosophical Transactions' as it does not mark a distinct step in the advancement of their knowledge of explosions. It is an interesting contribution to the nature of gas-explosions and should be published in one of the technical journals which devote much space to this subject, such as the 'Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers'. States the main conclusions of the authors and notes that these seem to be founded on very insufficient evidence, and they ignore some well established facts.

[Published in Proceedings of the Royal Society A, 1905].
