TitleReferee's report by Albert Charles Seward, on a paper 'The fructification of Neuropteris heterophylla' by Robert Kidston
DateDecember 1903
DescriptionSectional Committee: Botany

Recommended for publication in the Philosophical Transactions. Suggests two verbal alterations that may be suggested to the author; the use of Lyginopteris in place of Lyginodendron is likely to cause confusion, and 'reproduction' should be substituted for 'fructifying'. It is essential the photographs be reproduced, if possible by collotype-process. The text-figure should also be reproduced. Kidston's paper is of great importance as demonstrating the connection between a Gymnospermom seed and a Neuropteris frond. The author is perhaps inclined to be too positive as to his conclusions in regard to the evidence bearing on the connection between that which he called the 'crude influorescence' and the seed and Neuropteris heterophylla.
