Refers to work by Fischer [?] on Young's Rule in 1868, a calculation which required correction. Observations and calculations based on it 'must be regarded as irrelevant'.

Note by Joseph Larmor, dated November 27, asks if the paper, for illustrative purposes, might be suitable for a geological journal, as opposed to 'a rigorous up-to-date collection like the Proceedings'.
