TitleReferee's report by William Allen Miller, on a paper 'On the dissolution of urinary calculi in dilute saline fluids, at the temperature of the body, by the aid of electricity' by Henry Bence Jones
Date9 February 1853
DescriptionNot recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Would have preferred the paper not be presented for publication in its preset state. Suggests postponing publication for a few months until further investigations have been completed by the author. Refers to work by Pierre Prévost and Jean-Baptiste Dumas, 'On the employment of the Voltaic Pile in the treatment of vesical calculi', Annals de Chemie, 1823, also referred to in the reviewed paper. Compares the approaches of the two papers. Suggests trials be made as to the medical value of the process.
