TitleReferee's report by George Gabriel Stokes, on a paper 'Further experiments on light' by Henry Lord Brougham
Date8 June 1852
DescriptionNot recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Descriptions of experiments into diffraction of light have been extensively covered and do not alone warrant publication in the Philosophical Transactions, unless new and improved methods are employed, produce striking results, accurate measurements taken for further experimentation, results obtained which appear to be at variance with accepted theory. The results might have been valuable in previous years, but the author is not fully acquainted with the contemporary state of the subject. Changed would need to be made before the paper could be considered for publication.
