TitleReferee's report by Hugh Longbourne Callendar, on a paper 'An approximate estimate of the constituents of water' by William Robert Bousfield
Date[December 1914]
DescriptionSectional Committee: Physics and Chemistry

Not recommended for publication in the 'Proceedings of the Royal Society of London'. The paper is too speculative, would be more suitable for the Faraday Society or the Philosophical Magazine. Refers to work by John Henry Poynting, John McFarlane Gray, Hugh Longbourne Callendar and Henry Augustus Rowland.

Attached letter from Hugh Longbourne Callendar states that he does 'not wish to be drawn into a controversy with the author'. If the remarks are sent to the author he will know or suspect they are from Callendar. He asks the Committee to respectfully recommend 'publication elsewhere without going too minutely into details'. Dated 2 December 1914.
