TitleReferee's report by David Meredith Seares Watson, on a paper 'On the phylogeny of the Ammonite family Liparoceratidae' by Leonard Frank Spath
Date[September 1936]
DescriptionSectional Committee: Geology

Recommended for publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' only if 'completely rewritten in an intelligible form'. It might lead to a useful discussion if Read before the Royal Society. Does not consider himself, as a general zoologist, to be well acquainted with the Ammonites. Refers to work of Alpheus Hyatt and Arthur Elijah Trueman, and discusses their phylogenetic treatment of the subject, from which the current paper differs. If the ideas of the current paper are true, then it is well worthy of publication. However, assumptions are made by the author as to the familiarity of the readers with specialist knowledge. Suggests the author present figures in a logical order, and clearly state his views.
