TitleReferee's report by David Keilin, on a paper 'The nature and permeability of chitin, III - The nature and origin of the membranes surrounding the developing eggs of homarus vulgaris' by Charles Maurice Yonge
Date17 April 1937
DescriptionSectional committee: Zoology

Not recommended for publication. It contains a far too long review of unimportant observations by other researchers in this subject. There are three pages of 'superficial and crude' tests which prove that the author has little knowledge in this area. His description of the female genital organs is one that would be expected from an 'elementary student of zoology'. Some statements are based on pure analogies because the author didn't want to dig deeper into the subject. The unexciting results could be put into five pages and published in the Zoological Journal. He is sorry to provide such a disappointing report, as he has heard from other zoologists that Yonge is a good worker.
