TitleLetter from Godfrey Harold Hardy, to John David Griffith Davies, regarding a paper 'The summation of infinite harmonic series' by Frederick Soddy
Date9 September 1942
DescriptionSectional Committee: Mathematics

Would rather not act as an official referee, owing to the author's attack on one of his (the correspondent's) paper's last year. Alfred Charles Glyn Egerton only sent a former paper as a last resport when other referees were indecisive. Cannot report favourably in this case, but when the paper is rejected, as it will be, the author will assume it was the correspondent that was responsible. Suggests George Barker Jeffery as a suitable referee, as 'someone of standing and some seniority'. Encloses a note for the referee, to save some time. Refers to work of Thomas John I'Anson Bromwich.
