TitleLetter from Edmund Clifton Stoner, on a paper 'The theory of the magneto-resistance effects in metals' by E H Sondheimer and Alan Herries Wilson
Date11 December 1945
DescriptionHe has received the comments from the author on his report. The author believes that as a Fellow, he shouldn't have to adopt a referee's suggestions. Stoner believes the author is exaggerating, as he didn't suggest a considerable extension of the paper. He still thinks that explicit references should be added to help decipher the symbols used. He agrees with the author that the general matter he raised is controversial. When writing scientific papers, the reader should be kept in mind and it should be remembered that they may not have extensive knowledge of the subject and require some clarification.
