Title | Referee's report by Max Ferdinand Perutz, on a paper 'Studies on silk proteins I. The properties and constitution of fibroin. The conversion of fibroin into a water-soluble form and its bearing on the phenomenon of denaturation' by D Coleman and F O Howitt |
Date | 3 May 1945 |
Description | Sectional committee: Chemistry
Not recommended for publication in its present form. He is sorry that his comments are so critical, but the paper is 'very bad indeed'. The authors seem to be out of touch with present biochemical though . The paper would 'not be passed by the head of any biochemical laboratory in this country'. The authors should be persuaded to strip the interesting experimental results from the paper and publish it in a revised form.
