TitleReferee's report by Douglas Rayner Hartree, on a paper 'The calculation of the absolute strengths of spectral lines' by David Robert Bates and Agnete Damgaard
Date[1948]
DescriptionSectional Committee: Physics

No clear statement regarding publication in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society. Suggests areas for improvement and presentation.

Appended letter from Douglas Rayner Hartree, dated 16 February 1949. Returns paper. Does not insist on publication in the Philosophical Transactions, but is most appropriate gievn both the length of the wrok and the presence of the tables. Refers to work by Ludwig Franz Benedict Biermann. Still finds the wording of the equation on page 4 imprecise.
