TitleReferee's report by William Carruthers, on a paper 'On the organization of the fossil plants of the coal-measures.—Part XI' by William Crawford Williamson
Date27 October 1880
DescriptionNo clear statement regarding publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society'. Finds refereeing papers by the author laborious and 'a pain', despite the 'good honest work' put in by the author. 'I fear however it is impossible to get him to alter his style, which is unlike anything that has appeared in the Philosophical Transactions since scientific language became employed by scientific workers'.
