TitleLetter from James Alfred Ewing, to George Gabriel Stokes, regarding a paper 'Effects of stress on the thermoelectric quality of metals. Part I' by James Alfred Ewing
Date11 February 1882
DescriptionIs preparing a second part, to extend the experiments from the first part more fully, and to cover other metals, however this will take time. Publication of the second part may be deferred until the author's return to England in late 1883. If the Part II investigations were at a more complete stage, would agree with the suggestion of the refereesin amalgamating the two parts, but does not wish to postpone publication of Part I. Refers to work by Von Tunzelmann, Emil Georg Cohn and William Thomson. These papers have been difficult to obtain in Japan. Will add a note acknowledging the investigations of the other authors. Will omit the contradictory paragraph and note. Will make sure to give absolute measurements in Part II.
