DescriptionContains reports by Thomas Gold for the Admiralty Signal Establishment, Jul 1945-Sep 1946 e.g. 'Radio communication via the moon', 19 March 1946 and 11 September 1946. Also contains a patent specification and report by Thomas Gold for a landfall predictor, Nov 1944-Mar 1945. As part of Gold's engineering work he developed this cartographic instrument for use with radar navigation. There are also three black and white photographs showing the landfall predictor. The file also contains a letter from McGeorge Bundy at Harvard University to Thomas Gold, dated 28 November 1956, saying that he was delighted that Gold was going to join the Astronomy Department and the Harvard College Observatory. There is also a paper by Thomas Gold and B Noble, ‘Hearing III. On the theory of transmission and absorption of waves in the cochlea' [1949].
