NotesHe reacted angrily to his appearance in Vanity Fair and wrote to The Lancet; ' I am told that this is a distinction; if so it is one which I do not appreciate or covet and I should like the profession to know that it is entirely unauthorised and against my express wish. I remember that Sir James Paget was subjected to a similar indignity'.
