The application letter from J S Mitchell also refers to Sir John Douglas Cockcroft FRS.

The letters also refer to Sir Michael Francis Addison Woodruff FRS, then Professor at Edinburgh University. It is suggested that a grant application from him would be welcome, in order to buy equipment to support his work in organ transplantation.

The application was made to the Wolfson Foundation's 'Education' programme area.
