OtherInfoMacMahon made a remarkable entrance into the mathematical scene by establishing a direct correlation between invariant theory and the theory of partitions, a branch of number theory. Arthur Cayley lauded MacMahon's discovery as 'very remarkable,' solidifying his mathematical standing. In the subsequent years, Cayley sought MacMahon's assistance in tackling complex problems in invariant theory. Specialising in the theory of algebraic forms, MacMahon produced numerous results, including his noteworthy master theorem, a method for analysing permutations using determinants.
