OtherInfoAfter the Restoration, Howard had to compound much of his grandfather's debt, which had been incurred during the Civil Wars and the Commonwealth for his royalist support. Towards the late 1670s and in particular after the Popish Plot, Howard lost much political influence and went abroad.
