Career:
Joined his father at the dockyards, being described as especially interested in steam engines. launched a 60-ton ship of his own design called the 'Indus' (1833). His house and gardens at Mazgaon lit using gas lighting, in the presence of the Governor of Bombay (10 March 1834).
Elected non-resident Member, Royal Asiatic Society (1837); retired as Chief Engineer (1 August 1857);
