<dc:title>Letter from [Alan Archibald Campbell] Swinton, to [Lieutenant-Colonel] Kenelm Edgcumbe</dc:title>
<dc:description>Recalls the previous meeting of the General Purposes Committee of the Institution when he was asked to sound Sir Charles Parsons as to whether he would be willing to provide a portrait for the Lecture Hall of John Hopkinson. Informs that shortly after Parsons told him he would prefer to provide a portrait of Sir Joseph Swan, but since then has not had opportunity to speak to him. The most recent update is that now Sir Thomas Callender offered to provide a portrait of Hopkinson, and one of Sir Joseph Swan from Sir Hugo Hirst, and as far as he knows both were accepted.</dc:description>
