Unpublished paper, 'On the synthesis of tribasic acids' by Maxwell Simpson Simpson explains that in an earlier issue of the Proceedings of the Royal Society he gave a preliminary notice of a tribasic acid having the composition C12 H8 O12, formed by the action of potash on tercyanide of allyle.
