Copy letter from E. W. Hamilton, Treasury Chambers, to the Under Secretary of State of the Foreign Office Informs the Foreign Office that the Royal Society advise that Great Britain should participate in the International Seismological Association [congress in Rome in October], provided France also joins. Proposes that unless they learn before 6 September that France will definitely not participate, they will send Professor [Arthur] Schuster to go to Rome as Great Britain's delegate. Consents for Great Britain to adhere to the International Seismological Association for a period of less than four years. 1 September 1906
