Copy letter from the Treasury Chambers, to the Secretaries of the Royal Society Explains that whilst the Treasury ses no reason to expect that the cost of printing the Oxford portion of the International Astrographic [Chart] Catalogue will exceed £1400, they will not accept Oxford University's offer to limit the amount they pay to half that sum. The Treasury's offer was that half of a sum up to £2000 would be defrayed by Oxford University or other sources, and the Treasury explains that it does not feel justified accepting liability for any excess cost.
