<dc:title>Letter from Arthur Schuster, Secretary of the Royal Society, Burlington House, London, to Sir Douglas Mawson</dc:title>
<dc:description>He has received Mawson's letter of 12 July. Council of the Royal Society met on Thursday and Schuster presented Mawson's former letters, with those of Chree. They have voted a sum not exceeding £100 from the Caird Fund for reductions of the magnetic observations. He understands from the later letter that £50 will be sufficient and this may be obtained by applying to the Assistant Secretary. The Society cannot pledge for the future, but they realise the importance of completing a full discussion by Dr. Chree of the observations, to be published by the New Zealand Government, and further applications would be viewed sympathetically. </dc:description>
