<dc:title>Paper, 'A particular of the infirmity or disease of James Oddye of Helpby in the county of Yorke, Glover, then aged about forty yeares' by Tho [Thomas] Bankes</dc:title>
<dc:description>Bankes describes the case of a man living in Helpby [Helperby, North Yorkshire, England] who experienced swelling and pain in his side for twenty years. Bankes made an incision in the swelling and it voided many 'bladders' of various sizes for a week. The swelling returned a year later, and Bankes followed the same procedure which again yielded numerous 'bladders'. For the following four years he would void the same 'bladders' through vomit or faeces. Bankes consulted with other physicians and was unable to come up with a diagnosis. Another account of Oddye's illness is found at CLP/14i/8a.
