  <dc:description>Concerning the journey of Joseph Kellogg of New England, made in 1710  in the company of six French men, in two canoes made of birch bark.

Kellog's party travelled from Montreal via Lake Nipissing to Lake Huron, and wintered at Michilimackinac. They then proceeded along Lake Michigan to “Chigaquea” (Chicago) and portaged to the Illinois River, which they followed to the Mississippi and southward to the mouth of the Ohio.
