Biological Committee [1936] Printed copies of Council Minute 7 on 30 April 1936 and Council Minute 3 of 21 May 1936 pasted into front cover Appointed by Council at meeting of 30 April 1936, item 7 ; ' Read the following report from the General Biological Committee appointed by Minute 7 of March 5, 1936 - the Committee begs leave to recommend; (i) That one or more reserch studentships or fellowships in biology (botany, geology and zoology) be creatd forthwith at £400 to £600 per annum with a tenure of three years (ii) That a standing Biologival Committee be appointyed to recommend as to research appointments in biology, exclusive of medicine: and to advise, when desired, on matters connected with biology. Resolved; That a Biological Committee be formed for this purpose and that further considertion of the report be deferred for the next meeting of Council Meeting of Council on 21 May 1936, item 3; 'Arising from Minute 7 of the previous meeting, it was resolved; That authority be given to create a Research Fellowhsip in biology for a period of three years at a salary of £500 per annum; that this salary and a further superannuation cntribution of £50 per annum be a charge on the Messel Fund; and that the standing Biological Committee shall advise the Council on the selection of a suitable Messel Fellow Resolved further - that the Biological Secretary (Chairman), the Treasurer, Dr E J Allen, Dr E J Butler, Dr J Gray, Professor O T Jones, Dr W D Lang, Professor A C Seward, Professor W Stiles, Professor D M S Watson and Professor W W Watts be appointed a standing Biological Committee Meeting helds; 1. 10 June 1936 2. 3 December 1936 3. 27 June 1938 4.
