Deep drilling in Europe Professor Vine reported that an ad hoc international consortium (in which the UK was involved), having arranged the drilling of a deep (2 km) borehole in Iceland in 1978, was now considering follow-up projects in Cyprus and Iceland; the results from the initial borehole in eastern Iceland were to be published in J.Geophys.Res. in April 1981. 21. Date of next meeting Subject to need, it waasd agreed the next meeting should be held in late October or early November 1981. Recommendations Minute 3. IUGS subscription The UK should remain in category 7, providing the FRG did so also and pay an annual subscription to IUGS of $10500 (35 units at $300 p.a. ) from 1981/2, subject to the necessary provision in the Parliamentary grant-in-aid. Minute 8. IAGC subscription The UK subscription to the IAGC (with 6 units in the second highest category) be increased from $180 (at $30 per unit) to $360 (at $60 per unit) from 1981/2, subject to the necessary provision in the Parliamentary grant-in-aid. 29 October 1980
