Introduction In welcoming new members, the Chairman explained that the structure of the Committee had been changed so that it would more accurately reflect its function as the UK link with the IUGS. Rather than being a forum for British geology, the Committee's responsibilities centred on promotion of British geology in an international context, initiatives of an international character and representation at international (IUGS) meetings (including the nomination of delegates). 2. Next meeting Agreed to meet next in May 1986 Recommendations Minute 6 - Relations between IUGS and the Geologica Congresses That the nomination of Dr Cronan as the National Committee's representative on the IUGS Study Group (to examine the structure of the IGC and its relations with IUGS ) be endorsed and that provision be made for his expenses in attending a meeting of the Study Group (probably in Zurich in December 1985) if the IUGS was unable to provide them.
