Terms of reference, as laid down by Council in 1965 2. General theme 3i. Dean and Chapter developing activities under the theme 'One People' to include exhibitions; Royal Society invited to assist in planning a science exhibition [See WA/2 (65)] 3ii. Five proposals listed in preliminary discussions with the Abbey's 1966 Executive Committee [WA/1 (65)] a. Dates to be 1 August - 3 September 1966 b. Great Hall in Westminster School most advantageous site c. Charge to be made for admission d. Exhibition to be based n scientists and engineeres buried in the Abbey e. Brochure to be produced to explain the exhibition and t mention all the wscientists and engineers buried int eh Abbey 3iii. Exhibition to be based on scientists and engineers already buried int he Abbey, but to inlude modern developments 3iv. Provisional list of scientists buried in the Abbey, but after discussion Depute Executive secretary to prepare a definitive list 3v. Mr Lansdell stressed importance of exhibition being easily understood by the general public; must be one way traffic, and if possible working models and films. 4. Plans for exhibits - for exhibition plan see Appendix A 4i. Members of committee agreed to be organizers for sections of the exhibition - subject and member listed 4ii. Discussion concerning the historical side, and use of portraits 4iii. Preliminary discussion about what to include in exhibits [listed] 4iv. Section organizers to provide firm ssugggestions for exhibits with permission for oan or information who to contact. 5. Timetable 5i. Nexy meetiing on 14 January 1966, when proposals considered adn decisions made for content 5ii. At meeting one month later Mr Lansdell to present his proposals for design; working drawings to be prepared thereafter 5iii. 8 weeks needed for construction, including 2 weeks in the exhibition hall itself 6. Location and dates - to be Westminster Great Hall, dates to be 3 August to 10 September 1966 7. Services, Maintenance and Manning 8. Finance - funds would be needed for constructing the exhibition, insurance, paying student helpers and maintenance men et. To discuss possible sources at next meeting. 9.
