 ' Dr Hooke proposed Mr Menkenius of Lipsick  (a person of about 30 yers of Age and Endowed with many qualifications to be a Member of the Royal Society he was balloted for and approved of by a Majority of 7. 

A Person was Proposed to make a discovery of some part of Africa Mr Jezreel Jones was disired to withdraw into the Long Gallerie. 

It was the Opinion of all the Members present tht Jezreel Jones is a Person fitting, and very well quallifyed for to make a Discovery of Africa and are willing to Encourage it all they can by giving the Caracter of the said Person the Society being not in a Capacity to Encourage him from their Treasury as not having a Stock Sufficient where with to do it.

These Minutes were ordered to be read, to the Society which was done accordingly before the Parted. '
