Commencing with a list of Council members present: Francis Baily; William Thomas Brande; Benjamin Collins Brodie; John George Children; William Clift; Reverend James Cumming; William Hasledine Pepys; Peter Mark Roget; the Treasurer, John William Lubbock, in the chair. 

Among matters discussed or noted: minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A sealed letter was deposited in the iron chest on behalf of James D. Forbes. All books borrowed from the Library to be returned before 1 August and Mr. Hudson to report to Council with the names of borrowers with outstanding books. Mr. Baily reported that he had set off a thirty inch scale on the Society's barometer.  </dc:description>
