Among matters discussed or noted: As a new member Darwin made the necessary declaration. Brodie presented the report of the Committee to consider the award of the Royal Medals (report reproduced in minutes), recommending that the award no longer be restricted to authors of papers in Philosophical Transactionsa and that only one medal be awarded a year with a monetary prize of the value of the second medal. Pollock's report from the Committee to consider the proposed government grant for the promotion of scientific inquiries scheduled to be deliverd at the next meeting. £100 from the Donation Fund granted to Dr Hoffman of the Royal Collge of Chemistry to continue his research on organic bases.
