Halley Bay expedition papers This archive contains papers of the Royal Society's expedition to Halley Bay in the Antarctic, carried out as part of the International Geophysical Year (IGY). The practicalities of planning and executing the expedition are well documented within the archive, from recruitment of team members, to ships and stock for the expedition. Also well documented are committee and working group activities back in the UK. More personal reflections on life at Halley Bay can be found in base camp diaries, telegraphs, and in hand-made magazines ('the Halley Comet' and 'the Maggazette') made by the expedition crew.
