Letter from Simon to Prof Karl Friedrich Bonhoeffer, on the visit to Oxford by Dr Gerischer and on Simon's visit to Germany, where he received the Linde Medal Simon writes: "...I alluded to Pollitser's death at Auschwitz, Fues got up and made a very decent statement about the responsibility of the Germans for what has happened and that the scientists will try and make ammeds, as far as is possible, for the harm that has been done. At last somebody has said something on these lines openly and it is only a pity that it was not done before" 6 October 1952
