<dc:title>Letter from W H [William Henry] Smyth, St John's Lodge, near Aylesbury, to Sir John [Frederick William Herschel]</dc:title>
<dc:description>He returns Book 3 of 'The Iliad' with thanks. He notes that although Parson Adams despised 'Mr Pope', he would have 'given quarter' to Herschel's translation, and gives the reference to [Henry] Fielding's 'Joseph Andrews', which Herschel should re-read. He hopes to read Books 13 and 14 and comments on Paris and his two lances. He gives best wishes to all at Collingwood and adds a postscript of two versions of the end of Book 24. </dc:description>
