<dc:title>Letter from C [Charles] Pritchard, Clapham, to Sir John [Frederick William Herschel]</dc:title>
<dc:description>He thanks Herschel for his last two letters and wishes him to understand that Alick [Alexander Stewart Herschel] is on leave of absence for a fortnight and if any other arrangements are to his advantage, they should be made. He leaves for Plymouth and for Orduna tomorrow morning. He will be ill-prepared to find the time and place [for the 1860 total eclipse in Spain] but has a transit with him, 'a sort of altazimuth ready to 10" with 3 verniers, but very inconvenient'. He describes his eyepiece as 'magnificent', providing 'a cool delicious view of the Sun'. </dc:description>
