<dc:title>Drawing, 'Under the verandah...', by J [John] Herschel</dc:title>
<dc:description>Landscape showing a pillared verandah in Roorkee, India, from the interior looking outward. There is a covered doorway to the left as viewed, and unidentified equipment, including a bamboo pole, leaning against one pillar. A domed building can be seen in the far distance, possibly Thomason College of Civil Engineering, Roorkee.

Inscribed verso: 'J. Herschel June/59. Under the verandah Newmarch's Bungalow Roorkee'.

The accompanying note [HS/2/1/16] characterises this as a 'rough Camera sketch', presumably taken by camera lucida, therefore. </dc:description>
